Died peacefully, in Maitland Hospital, Metford
after an illness of some weeks,
on Wednesday, 22 January, 2025,
in her 96th year
the 73rd year of religious profession.
Ruth was the only daughter of James Clairvaux Long and Mary Hyacinth Dooley (both decd.),
cherished sister and sister-in-law of Richard and Yvonne (both decd.),
loving aunt of Simon, Virginia and Thomas.
The Sisters of St Joseph Lochinvar warmly invite family, friends and former students to join with us, in grieving the loss of a woman who significantly formed and shaped the spirit of our congregation in the tradition of Julian Tenison Woods and Mary MacKillop, a woman who touched the hearts of many.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Chapel, Lochinvar
on Monday, 3 February at 11.30am.

The Rite of Committal will follow immediately in the Sisters’ section of the Catholic Cemetery, Lochinvar.
Afterwards, refreshments will be available in the Mary MacKillop Hall, located within St Joseph’s College, Lochinvar.
